All are welcome to come and join the Monday morning class at St Martin's, Killerton Road, Bude.
The first 6 weeks of teaching yoga in Bude have been a pleasure. Thanks to the lovely people who have been coming along.
Our time has been spent developing core strength, the foundations for correct alignment in postures and enhancing the flow of the breath.
I look forward to seeing you all in the new year. Classes start again Monday 7th January, St Martin's Hall and Tuesday 8th, The Golf Club. Newcomers will be very warmly welcomed!
Rosie is now back at the Yoga Studio on Thursday mornings, but again it's been a pleasure to cover for her and teach her students.
I came across an article recently that reaffirmed many of my views about teaching from the core, for both its physical and energetic properties. However I was stopped in my flow when I read, "If we don't know how to get centered in our core, we're basically doormats for whoever's a stronger personality. We become susceptible to anyone who wants to push us off balance, whether it's a controlling mother or a government”.
Strong words maybe but truth lies within them. Yoga is about bringing us into balance and allowing us to connect with our inner being. When we do this we become centred and more resilient, enabling us to consider an objective point of view, see the truth and respond more appropriately.
We’ve all experienced how differently we can respond to something going wrong when we’re calm and not under time pressures. That picture is often somewhat different if we’re delayed, late for work and the boss is waiting to see you as you walk though the door.
Next time events knock you off balance, give yourself a few moments to settle and centre. Bring your attention to your core, sensing the rise and fall of the abdomen as the breath flows in /out of the body. The breath will slowly balance to an easy breath and simultaneously the mind will settle leaving you better prepared to respond.
The quote came for Ana Forrest a yoga teacher with over 40 years experience and one considered a pioneer in yoga and emotional healing. To read the full article see: http://www.yogajournal.com/for_teachers/2120

When we feel strong through the centre of our body and when the breath is flowing freely and deeply we feel brighter, more confident and balanced.
